Selene is a skilled family life and early childhood educator, as well as a mother of a two-year old and a seven-month old. In order to be home with her children, Selene was interested in creating a portable career that would allow her maximum flexibility. She wanted to develop and write special articles, booklets or brochures that advocate for the needs of families and their children in the business community and society at large.

Her coach helped Selene develop an effective broadcast letter and CV for this purpose. Together they looked at potential organizations and companies where she might market her writing skills. The coach provided many websites on portable careers, information about starting up a small home business, and negotiating and setting up fee structures. In addition, websites and articles on toddler adjustment to moving were researched and forwarded to Selene. Selene attended a networking event at the suggestion of her coach which she found quite valuable.

After exploring the possibility of starting a small business, Selene felt that she needed more skills and time in order to balance it with raising her young family. She has, therefore begun to look into work and life consulting, has had one interview with a potential employer, and is waiting to hear if she will be considered for a part time position.
