Raveena is an Indian national with good English language skills and a background in University lecturing. She was delighted to be moving with her husband and 14-year-old daughter to the UK for their very first international assignment. Raveena's requests at the start of the programme pertained specifically to transition support for her daughter.
Recognising the importance of Raveena's daughter, the coach met them both and they agreed that the first stage of the programme would focus on acclimation to UK culture and social norms. The REA coach encouraged Raveena to join the library, where many community services are provided free of charge. Here Raveena joined some classes and began building her new support network.
When Raveena confirmed how settled she was feeling, the time was right to start working on her CV and explore volunteer opportunities. The coach provided scripts to help with telephone calls and to prepare for interview questions. Within a few months Raveena landed two volunteer jobs and was thrilled with the experience. Raveena is learning so much from the community she is now an active part of, and she has made many new friends.
