Charmaine's first goal was to get her daughters situated in school and then to learn about the area and make some connections. By coincidence, her Coach had some very good friends who were also from Denmark and was able to introduce her. Her new acquaintances became a good source of all sorts of connections, as well as very good information as she settled in her new home.
However, making friends and adapting to this work and life transition were not the only goals Charmaine had in mind. She and the consultant discussed her future in the field of computer networking. Charmaine explored some options for specific software certification programs and worked with her Coach to draft a CV.
In the meantime, Charmaine received a work permit and decided to explore some part-time opportunities. Through her new Danish network she heard about a small company in Paris that publishes software manuals in a variety of languages. They were interested in her Danish language skills, combined with her technical background. With the Coach's help in preparing for interviews, Charmaine made a very favorable impression on the employer and was offered a job as technical translator – something she had never before considered. She accepted the position and is very excited about the possibilities!
